Used dredgers for sale
Above you will find every dredger for sale in our current listings, from compact modular dredgers that travel by road to sea-going hopper dredgers. Each listing shows the main particulars; full specifications are available on request. Please contact us with the folio number. Many dredgers are sold before they are published, so if you do not see the dredger you need, send us your requirements and we will approach owners directly.
Which type of dredger do you need?
The right dredger depends on the soil, the water depth, the distance to the disposal or reclamation area and how the dredger has to reach the site.
- Cutter suction dredgers – a rotating cutter head loosens the soil and a dredge pump sends it through a pipeline. Used for land reclamation, port construction and harder soils. Our listings range from modular IHC Beavers and a Damen CSD 650 to heavy-duty cutter dredgers.
- Trailing suction hopper dredgers – self-propelled ships that suck up material while sailing, store it in their hopper and discharge it by bottom doors, split hull or pump ashore. Used for maintenance and capital dredging of channels and ports. Our listings run from 975 to 8,600 m³ hopper capacity.
- Backhoe dredgers – a hydraulic excavator on a spud pontoon, for ports, quay walls, rock and debris and work in confined spaces. Our listings range from 600 to 1,900 kW.
- Plain and deep suction dredgers – suction dredgers without a cutter, mainly for sand and aggregate mining in deep pits and lakes.
Most dredging projects also need support equipment: split hopper barges, booster stations, multicats and pontoons.
What does a dredger cost?
There is no list price for a used dredger. The price depends mainly on:
- Type and size – hopper capacity, pipe diameter, cutter and pump power, dredging depth.
- Age, yard and engines – year of build, builder, engine make and running hours.
- Class and navigation area – a dredger with a certificate for unrestricted navigation is worth more than one without class.
- Scope of supply – floating and shore pipeline, workboat, spare parts and wear parts included or not.
- Condition – wear of pumps, pipes and cutter or dragheads, and the docking and survey history.
- Location – the cost of sailing, towing or transport to your project.

Frequently asked questions
How much does a dredger cost?
That depends on type, size, age, class and what is included in the sale. A small modular cutter dredger and a sea-going hopper dredger are in completely different price ranges. Send us your requirements and we will send you suitable dredgers with full specifications, or ask for a valuation of a specific vessel.
What is the difference between a cutter suction dredger and a hopper dredger?
A cutter suction dredger is stationary on spuds and pumps the material through a pipeline, which suits reclamation and hard soils. A trailing suction hopper dredger sails while dredging, stores the material on board and transports it itself, which suits channels and long distances to the disposal area.
Can a dredger be delivered overseas?
Yes. Sea-going dredgers sail on their own; modular dredgers are dismantled and shipped or transported by road; other units are carried as deck cargo or towed. We can advise on the delivery route.
How do I sell my dredger?
Send us the main particulars, class status and recent photos via List your vessel, or contact us directly. We advise on a realistic asking price and present the dredger discreetly to buyers worldwide.
